NC State University Libraries - Textbook Service

Textbooks

You can access many of your required textbooks for free through the Libraries! We have online textbooks available through our website and physical textbooks available to check out for 4 hours at a time from the Libraries' Ask Us desks.

Looking for accessible textbooks? Connect with the Disability Resource Office.

Finding Your Textbooks

Not sure what textbooks are required for your class? Check your syllabus!

If you don't have access to a syllabus, check the Wolfpack Outfitters website to see if your instructor has submitted any titles. You can search required textbooks by course number, or log in for a personalized booklist of all your enrolled courses.

Once you know what textbook you need, search our catalog with Discover to see if the Libraries has it available online or at an Ask Us desk.

If we don't have a textbook you need, please email library_reserves@ncsu.edu. We will look into buying a copy if we can, but keep in mind that some common textbook formats cannot be purchased by libraries.

Course Ready and Wolfpack Outfitters

Course Ready, managed by Wolfpack Outfitters, is NC State’s undergraduate textbook billing program. The program provides access to digital versions of required materials in Moodle. Check out our Course Ready FAQ to learn more about costs, benefits, and opting in or out.

Wolfpack Outfitters also sells individual textbooks.

What happened to the Libraries' Textbook Search?

Over the summer we completed a major migration to a new integrated library system, and some connected applications, like the Textbook Search, need to be reworked. We hope to have the Textbook Search back up for the Spring 2027 semester. In the meantime, please Ask Us if you need help identifying your textbooks.
